I received confirmation from the RHS yesterday that I, in conjunction with my colleague Lisa Burchill a garden designer from Bristol, have been accepted by the judging panel to create a Show Garden at the RHS Malvern Spring Festival 2015. The Festival is based at the Three Counties Shown ground in Malvern and takes place between 7th and 10th May 2015. There are a number of Show Gardens and smaller Festival Gardens displayed this year, all of which will be judged to RHS standard, at the same level as Hampton Court or the Chelsea Flower Show. So, Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will all be on offer for successful designs.
Our garden is titled 'Out of Darkness’ and has a central theme based around creating beauty and interest in a dark damp corner. Most people have a dark, shady corner of their garden that they feel is a difficult area, where nothing will grow, we will be attempting show that these areas can be just as attractive and usable as the favoured sunny spots.
I will keep my blog updated as things progress, particularly as we move towards the build in April next year. I will also go into the design and its features in more detail in the coming months. I believe the creation of a show garden is a fascinating project, so anyone interested in the process can happily follow the ups and the downs of what is hopefully going to be an exciting rollercoaster ride right here.
So....more to follow......
