I have decided to keep a blog of the build progress of this garden. As this is an interesting project and it is likely to be completed in a fairly short space of time, I thought it would be interesting to use this as a sort of case study. This would mean I could show the steps of the build process and highlight how it is possible to make a small and difficult space into a beautiful and highly usable family garden.
The project is interesting due to physical nature of the space and the fact that the clients are planning on completing the build themselves, despite their limited experience. Given their small budget, they concluded that the most important element to creating
their ideal garden would be a beautiful and effective design to work
from. Therefore, they deemed the most efficient use of the budget was to
employ me as their professional garden designer.
The project is also interesting due to the clients' request to have a design which would utilise as much recycled material as possible. In any project I encourage this practice as I think is a great way to keep costs down while being environmentally friendly.
The Garden is featured in my portfolio under Small Cottage Garden for a
Young Family, where I fully explain the intricacy of the requirements.
Survey Photos:
These photos were taken during the survey back in December, just as it was starting to snow. The pictures are not very
clear, but the weather and the open layout gives an impression of how bleak it feels for what
could be a cosy cottage garden.
From an upstairs window. Snow is beginning to settle.
